Congress Venue:

Palazzo Barbieri, originally named Palazzo della Gran Guardia Nuova, is a Neoclassical style palace located in Piazza Bra in Central Verona.

It was designed by Giuseppe Barbieri and was later named in his honor. Construction began in 1836 and was completed by 1848.

The interiors contain a large canvas (1595) by Felice Brusasorzi depicting the victory of the Veronese over Benacensi in the year 829. Others who worked in the studio or contributed were Alessandro Turchi, Pasquale Ottino, and Sante Creara.

A 14th-century fresco depicting a Crucifixion and the Madonna from a private house was implated into the wall near the entrance. One room has tapestries from the 16th century. One designed by Paolo Farinati depicts the 1164 Victory of the Veronese against Frederick Barbarossa. Tha palace also contains various paintings by Carlo Ferrari and Eugenio Gignous.

Located in the north of Italy, in the Veneto region, Verona is easy to reach thanks to the nearby motorways, the train station served by local and mainline trains and the international airport.


By plane

Verona-Villafranca airport: international and national flights land to Verona airport, located 15’ by bus from the main Railway Station. Buses to/from the airport are scheduled every 20’.

Verona is also well connected by train to Milan-Malpensa, Milan-Linate, Venice and Bergamo-Orio al Serio.

If your flight arrives to one of these international airports you can take direct trains to Verona-Porta Nuova.

Verona is linked to the main Italian cities by the Trenitalia lines.

By car

Verona lies at the crossroads of two motorways: the A22 from Austria and the A4 which links Milan and Venice.

Distances to Verona by motorway:

Trento km. 103, Bolzano km. 157, Vicenza km. 51, Venice km. 114, Brescia km. 68, Milan km. 161, Bologna km. 142, Florence km. 230.

So the city is conveniently located for anyone travelling by car or coach. Many coach services call at Verona, including Flixbus.

 

From Verona Porta Nuova Station to Palazzo della Gran Guardia

Buses to the center can be accessed from the station and stopping at Piazza Bra, the central square where the palazzo is located.

The lines to reach the center are 11, 12, 13, 14, 72 and 73.
